If you guys hadn't guessed it, I'm pretty crazy about my weekend trip to Telluride. It was everything I imagined and more. Five of us went for Labor Day Weekend to explore the town, go on a couple hikes, and experience a true mountain town. We'll get more into that later this week, but first Erin (shout out to my adventure buddy) and I had our own mini adventure before the mega adventure.
We originally had planned to camp at Collegiate Peaks, but we all know that things don't always go as planned. It was a serious learning experience for us because we assumed there would be plenty of walk-in spots at the camping site. Turns out, as we were looping around the site, the two spots that were available were taken. We acted too slow to claim the spot. So, we tried another site, and they were all reserved. It was putting a serious dent in our plans to spend the night in the fresh air because I was contemplating just driving us all the way to Telluride since we were half way there. We decided ok... third time really is the charm. So, we tried one last spot recommended by the camp host. Little did we know that you had to off road for about 10 miles! HA!
So, we're driving down this dirt road, climbing up a mountain side so far from anything that we saw a baby moose. It was slightly terrifying because neither of us had been that far off the beaten track. As soon as we got to the spot, the sun had just started setting and we were in for an incredible sunset. We stood there in awe of the silence, the majestic mountain views, and the sun turning everything pink in the distance. We found our spot.
It was such a funny experience looking back because we both didn't know where we were going, but everything worked out that night. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches because everything happens for a reason. In this case, this spot we eventually found ourselves at turned out to be so much better than what we expected. Funny how the universe works...
